Despite a knockout loss to lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in October at UFC 294, Australia’s Alexander Volkanovski will be back in action on February 18 at UFC 298. He’ll be defending his world featherweight title against number 5 ranked title contender Ilia Topuria. With an undefeated streak of 14 wins, Topuria is a force to be reckoned with. His last win was against Josh Emmett last June. He’s been able to bypass the other contenders for a place in a championship bout due to Volkanovski and Max Holloway defeating most of the eligible contenders.

Rounding out the remainder of UFC 298’s main card is a welterweight bout between Geoff Neal and Ian Machado Garry, a bantamweight bout between Merab Dvalishvili and Henry Cejudo, a middleweight bout between Anthony Hernandez and Ikram Aliskerov, and a strawweight bout between Amanda Lemos and Mackenzie Dern. Lemos was originally up against Tatiana Suarez, but Suarez withdrew due to an injury, and therefore, was replaced by Dern. Australia’s heavyweight star Tai Tuivasa was also expected to fight at UFC 298 against Marcin Tybura, but this was moved to headline a UFC Fight Night.
